When there is a Copper head snake around, is there a cent of cucumber?

So, I am here in the state of Tennessee. Been here for three years, and everyone tells me that when you smell cut cucumber smell outside in the air, there is a Copper head around.
I live in a wooded area. I’ve ran into water moccasins, and a few non venomous snakes, but no copper heads, and i smell this scent a lot.
Is it true or not?

is there a way to get rid of cattails without poison or heavy equipment?

my home is on a lake and there are a bunch of cattails close to our house on the lake we have pulled them up and they grew back twice as thick,we burnt them down and again they grew back quickly and also spread again.they are taking over our property, and not to mention water moccasins have a great home there.since they are in the lake as well as our land we don’t want to use poison, and heavy equipment won’t fit as this is close to the house, anything that will fit back there will get stuck quickly.

What do you do when you see a snake in the water while you are swimming?

I can’t tell the difference between water moccasins and other snakes – but I would be scared either way. I’m asking because I’d like to go swimming in a river in Texas all year long.

How do you "snake proof" an ornamental fish pond?

I want a waterfall type fish pond in the back yard. We live in Florida. My husband is concerned about it attracting snakes. We do have occassional Water Moccasins and Rat Snakes around, but not alot. Is there anything we could do to keep them away? What is your opinion?

Are dogs immune to Water Moccasin bites?

I know someone who has a nest of Copperheads in her backyard that bite her dogs all the time and she only has to take them to the Vet to get the bites disinfected. The dogs are immune to the venom, though.

I was wondering if they were immune to Water Moccasin bites as well, though? Copperheads and Water Moccasins are both Pit Vipers, but so are Rattlesnakes, and I’ve been told that dogs are not immune to all Rattlesnake venom.

Possibly someone who has experience with hunting in marshes would know the answer to this? Thanks.
You all seem to be doubting me but it was a family dog, and yes they were copperheads. This is a first person source haha.

How do I get rid of water moccasins?

What are the chances of running into a rattlesnake this time of year in Alabama?

It’s in a heavily wooded area near a pond in southeastern Alabama. The weather has been fairly mild (50’s during day/ 30s or 20s at night), and occasionally warm (75 or higher). Are the rattle snakes and water moccasins still likely to be in hibernation? If not, is it best to make alot of noise as I walk to let them know I’m coming, so I don’t startle them?

Getting rid of water moccasins – HELP PLEASE?

We recently discovered what seems to be a nest of water moccasins (and yes they are water moccasins) under our dog house. We cut all the grass around it and weed eated around there, but they are still out there. The dog house weighs too much to move and we’d rather not burn it down. How else could we get rid of these snakes? And any suggestions on how to keep them from returning?

Anyone live around water moccasins? Do you take any precautions with your dogs?

I’m thinking about moving to water moccasin country. I’ve lived in rattlesnake country my whole life, but I’m a bit nervous about the water moccasins, especially in terms of dogs.

So… anyone live close to water? Do you ever see the boogers? Do you know of any dog that’s gotten bit by them? Have your dogs ever confronted one? Anything I should know about water moccasins?
