bitten by a water moccasin?
I was bitten yesterday by a water moccasin. I was weariing rubber boots and it went thru my boot and sock. I actually have two holes in both my boot and sock but I don’t think it actually got my foot. Soon after it happend I had a red mark that went from right below my toes which is where it struck to the bottom of my leg. When i woke up this morning it has now spread up my leg to my knee. If i would have been bitten I would have had signs right after it happend right? Does anyone know what it could be?
Can a person eat a Venomous snake ? Like a Water Moccasin ( Cotton Mouth ).?
The reason I ask is because, my friends and I all went camping. The boys caught a Water Moccasin and killed it. They decided to put it on the fire and cook it. After it was done, I ate a good bit of it. ( tasted very good ) About 25 minutes later I had the WORST migraine of MY LIFE! I couldnt move my head AT ALL, it started at the back near my spine and it pulsed up through the middle and bounced of my eyes. It lasted all night, and most of the next day. It hurt so bad I thought I was going to vomit! I really thought I was dying. So I really need to know if this snake may have been the cause of a long terrible night. If not, I need to figure out what else could have given me a migraine ![]()
I think my dog was bit by a way moccasin?
About an hour ago I heard my dog barking. I let it go because I figured he was playing with my pup but then he kept on and on so I finally whent outside to see what was going on.I noticed he was under the house and was in a attack position looking straight ahead so I walked in front of whear he was starring and noticed what I beleave to be a water moccasin so I whent inside and grabbed my 22 and shot the snake and then cut it’s head off and threw it in the trash.
I started checking my dog for bytes and found nothing but a lump on his chest but no byte marks I patted my dog on the head and then he started running around the yard and playing.about thirty minutes ago my wife came up to me and showed me a bloody part on my dog and it kind of looks like a byte mark but then again it could just be a mark from h fighting with the neighbor dog because he never hadhis back end toward the snake and it was only about maybe half his length so find it unlikely that it struck him ther when it could have go him in the face
He is still acting like his usual goofy self as a matter of fact he just go through eating
What should i do?????
P.s. I don’t have the money to take him to a vet

Can a dog survive a Water Moccasin Bite ?
I live in Florida and my dog was outside and got bite by what i think is a water moccasin. Her face has swelled up very bad and she started to drool a lot and looks very weak. It’s been 3 hours and it looks like she is getting a little better. So my question is does she have a chance to survive this? I’ve been keeping her awake also. I also don’t have money to bring her to the vet so i have no option other than what I’ve been doing. I also don’t know where she is bit. She might even have gotten bit twice , im not sure. Please serious answers only. I don’t want opinions on what you think is going to happen. I need a answer from someone that knows the answer to this and if there is anything else i can do.
Dog got bit by water moccasin?
Hi, I have a dog, who i think was bitten by a water moccasin… I am really worried. This happened about 3 days ago. I was out of town, for thanksgiving and i got back and he was laying in a pile of leaves not moving. It was night time so i could not see that well. I immediately called the nearest emergency vet, and took him in. By this time his whole leg was swollen, and he could barley get up. They looked at him, and said they couldn’t tell if it was a snake bite or not. They sent me home with pain killer and antibiotics. He is an 8 year old male lab, he’s a big boy,
. Also what are the chances for survival with this? He is an outside dog. I have him inside in a room. Should he just lay there and rest, or should he run around outside. Sometimes he is running with the other dogs and them sometimes he can barley move. Like i said, this happened about 3 days ago, and today I looked at his wound, and instead of being 2 little puncture wounds its like a 1 inch whole. I don’t know what to do. DO i need to take him to the vet? I don’t know if it needs stitches or not, its like a drainage whole. Also do ya think he will be OK???? I love him bunches!!! Thanks so much!!!!
Peoples,
Thanks so much for all your amazing answers!! Ya’ll are such a help. And yes your right!!!! We shouldnt take a chance when it comes to our "furry friends"
THanks everyone!!

Was is a rattlesnake or water moccasin?
I was about to go swimming in a really big creek and on the way down i stepped on the tail of a large, probly 3ft long, grey snake. It was not black so it couldnt have been a black snake or garder snake. I didnt see a rattler on it but right when i stepped on it, it went off in the bushes so freaking fast, so maybe it did have one and i jsut didnt see it. Its head was kinda triangular. could it have been a water moccasin or was it a rattler? since it was by the water im thinkin it mighta been a water moccasin. Thanks!
First answer wanted to know where i am, i am in middle tennessee.
one more question, err if it wasnt a water mocassin or rattlesnake, what was it? sorry i have a snakephobia lol
deridovly, thanks much, i think it was just a grey ratsnake or somethin like that lol. will make your answer best for sure when it gives me the option. Thanks :]
Are dogs immune to Water Moccasin bites?
I know someone who has a nest of Copperheads in her backyard that bite her dogs all the time and she only has to take them to the Vet to get the bites disinfected. The dogs are immune to the venom, though.
I was wondering if they were immune to Water Moccasin bites as well, though? Copperheads and Water Moccasins are both Pit Vipers, but so are Rattlesnakes, and I’ve been told that dogs are not immune to all Rattlesnake venom.
Possibly someone who has experience with hunting in marshes would know the answer to this? Thanks.
You all seem to be doubting me but it was a family dog, and yes they were copperheads. This is a first person source haha.

How do we know what kind of snake it is?
My boyfriend found a snake.. he wants to keep it but we aren’t sure if it is a garter snake or a water moccasin.. Or something else poisonous.
How can we tell?
I understand but, what if it is a boa.. (it rearlly looks like one) then if we don’t keep it it will die because it needs heat.
Biggest water moccasin?
How long is the longest recorded water moccasin? Because we killed one the other day that was 74 in long, and I’m pretty sure they don’t get bigger than that!
Anyone familiar with the wildlife in the Grand Canyon?
I am planning to hike the Grand Canyon and I am not familiar with the wildlife there. I am used to backpacking/camping through the woods of the Midwest. The most harmfull thing in these woods would be a water moccasin or a coyote, which is not too bad. What anamils are in the Grand Canyon? What should I look out for? What animals are a threat? Also, any suggestions on how to animal proof camp would be helpfull also.
I caught a water moccasin what am i suppose to humanly do with it ??

Is it true that black racer snakes are the predators of rattlesnakes?
I need to know because I have children and pets who play outside sometimes. Also, there is a black racer that hangs out in a particular area of our yard.
My husband has disposed of a rattle snake and copperhead and a water moccasin in the last year. If the racer takes care of rattlers we will leave him alone.
